Family Medicine

Dr. Patrick Waber was raised in Deer Lodge and graduated from Powell County High School in 1984. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served six years in the active reserves, receiving an honorable discharge in 1990. During that time, he earned a degree in biology from Montana State University in 1989.

After spending a year working at a sawmill, Pat attended Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated in 1994. He completed his family medicine residency in Yakima, Washington, in 1997 and spent the next 23 years practicing there. In 2002, he was invited to serve as a hospice medical director — a role he continues to hold virtually today.

Pat later spent three years in Bend, Oregon, as the hospice medical director for St. Charles Health System. When an opportunity arose to return to Deer Lodge, he was happy to come home. He practices all aspects of family medicine with a focus on improving quality of life.

Pat and his wife, Terri — also a Deer Lodge native — have four grown children and one grandchild. Pat enjoys lapidary work, metalsmithing and creating jewelry. Terri enjoys the finished pieces and tolerates the mess. They love spending time together, wherever life takes them.
